Fincastle, VA – In October 2011, Community Sanitation Service and Kelley’s Garbage Collection Service, in coordination with Botetourt County, began a pilot program to determine the benefits and costs of providing curbside recycling service in Botetourt County. As a result, the participating haulers have decided to make the service a part of their normal operations.
There is no additional cost to Community Sanitation Service and Kelley’s Garbage Collection Service customers for curbside recycling collection. To receive the service, residents must live in the service area and be a customer of either Kelley’s Garbage Collection Service or Community Sanitation Service. In the next few days via U.S. Mail, customers of the two trash hauler companies will be mailed an informational packet describing collection schedules, details about what may be put out for pick up, and how to sign up for the curbside recycling service.
Items that may be recycled curbside include mixed paper or comingled items (plastics #1 and #2, glass bottles and jars and tin cans). Details of the pilot program may be found on the County’s Recycling web page: http://www.botetourt.org/living/recycling.php#pilot.
Botetourt County thanks Community Sanitation Service and Kelley’s Garbage Collection Service for their commitment to our community by their participation in the pilot program and their willingness to continue curbside recycling collection.
