People in Botetourt County rally behind local teen to fight hunger

While most teenagers are thinking about heading to the pool and how they're going to enjoy their summer, one Botetourt County teen is a local inspiration.

As many as 100 workers have been temporarily laid off from a Botetourt County plant, a county official said.

Managers say it is normally a sign Summer is here, but this year the crops arrived in Spring. "They came three weeks earlier," said Jennifer Ikenberry, market manager. Farmers say it's due to the weather, but they are surprised the trees even survived.
