Bolton Named "Treasurer of the Year"

Fincastle, VA – Benton Bolton was presented the 2011 “Treasurer of the Year” award at the 81st annual meeting of the Treasurers' Association of Virginia (TAV). At the June conference, Bolton was recognized by his peers for his dedicated service to the Association, which included:
  • served many years on the TAV Board of Directors
  • co-editor of the Association’s newsletter
  • served on the committee to redefine committee definitions
  • was District Chairman for many years
  • sponsored and hosted regional meetings
  • assisted with the initial efforts toward Internet and distance training
  • drafted recently adopted revisions to the TAV constitution and by-laws
It was also noted that Botetourt’s was the first Treasurer’s office in the Commonwealth in which all employees were certified under education programs administered by the University of Virginia for TAV. Botetourt’s office continues to be an Accredited Office under the Association’s program.
Bolton has completed certification requirements for recognition as Master Governmental Treasurer. He was previously honored by the Association with a President’s Award in 2010, and the Community Service Award in 2001.
Currently serving in his 24th year as Botetourt Treasurer, Bolton announced in April that he will not seek reelection this November, and will complete his current term on December 31.
