… Celebrating Buchanan’s Bicentennial and the anniversary of the Upper James Scenic River, and tour by canoe or kayak the remains of locks and tunnels on the JR&K Canal's Unfinished Division. Enjoy historic Buchanan, a working replica batteau, canal photo exhibit, panel of local historians, banquet and more April 15 – 17, 2011 in Buchanan, Virginia. Virginia Canals & Navigation Society is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to Virginia’s rich canal and river history, preservation and parks.
