Making music, Oriskany style

Carol Lewis, Rita Parady, Dick Parady and Gene Guilliams tune-up in the Pavilion room behind King Memorial Church. Rita is on the autoharp, Dick on a banjo, Carol the guitar and Gene is ready to sing. The sweet sound they create floats through the room as they sing “Mansion Over the Hilltop,” a beautiful gospel song befitting any gathering in America. These are members of the Oriskany Strings. All four are original members of a band begun in 1997. They have had a 10-year run. Jack Lewis, who plays the washtub bass, came aboard out of frustration, said Carol with a laugh. . ..
