Free clinic violates Botetourt County's zoning ordinance

The Christian Free Clinic will request a special-exception permit to continue operating.

A free clinic in Botetourt County that was created to serve the uninsured and homeless has been operating since January without the proper zoning permit.

The Christian Free Clinic is open Tuesday evenings beginning at 5:30 in a room on the lower level of Fincastle Baptist Church on U.S. 220 North. ...

... On Monday, trustees of Fincastle Baptist Church will go before the county's planning commission to request a special-exception permit to continue operating the clinic.

The county's board of supervisors also will need to approve the request.

Botetourt County Administrator Jerry Burgess said county officials didn't initially understand the scope of services the clinic was providing....
